The University of Edinburgh, a founder member of the SCCS research partnership, has a strong track record in many aspects of CCS research. In particular, it has expertise in the geological characterisation of potential CO2 stores, reservoir modelling, advanced CO2 capture methods and the study of societal attitudes to energy policy and development. The University of Edinburgh established the world’s first Professor of CCS, Stuart Haszeldine.
Within the Acorn Phase 2 Project, The University of Edinburgh will lead on various aspects of the storage development plan design, including novel storage efficiency strategies at identified sites, and assessing the potential for shallow sediment CO2 containment.
The university will work with associates in Robert Gordon University to deliver stakeholder and industrial perception interviews, and will also be involved in low carbon build-out options for the project.
