The University of Liverpool is a globally-focused institution with activities rooted in world-leading research and the dynamics of the knowledge economy. The Faculty of Science and Engineering considers Geomechanics as an area of significant strategic research opportunity.

ACT Acorn research being undertaken by the university will take place using staff and equipment within the Department of Earth, Ocean and Ecological Sciences, which currently has 39 full-time permanent academic members of staff, 13 research associates, and more than 50 PhD students.

Within the Acorn Phase 2 project, Liverpool will be responsible for the geomechanics research and development innovation for the two storage sites (WP3).
